We were recently asked by Hyatt Place to experience a ‘staycation’ at their gorgeous 18 month old hotel in Essendon fields. Being only 10 mins from my house in Ascot Vale, I thought it would be an awesome chance to reconnect with the family and make some new memories! Sometimes a night away from housework and kids homework is all you need to recharge the batteries.
From the moment we walked into the opulent and warm reception area, we were welcomed by smiling faces and very down to earth staff- not always the case when talking 5 star accomodation. The staff quickly checked us into our 2 bedroom adjoining suite and called to the kitchen to start preparing our kid friendly High Tea.
Upon arrival into our room, there was a chocolate mud birthday cake and bottle of champagne waiting for us, such a lovely surprise for my 36th Birthday.
The rooms were stunning, very spacious and the bed comfort level was easily a 10/10. I haven’t had a sleep like that in years - that might have something to do with our 2 dogs and cat visiting our bed most nights haha!
The bathrooms were grand with deep free standing bath and double shower and the floor to ceiling windows showed off the beautiful city we live in.
Our high tea was an absolute highlight. Very generous servings of the most delectable desserts and for sweet tooth lovers like us, even we couldn’t manage to get through the plates on offer. With an assortment of delicious sandwiches - think cucumber and cream cheese with mint and smoked salmon, dill and capers, to sweets and chocolates, scones and mini pies - we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We sipped tea and champagne while the kids devoured their hot choccies with marshmallows
After a rest in our room for a few hours, we made our way through a side door which lead us into an adjoining restaurant called Mr McCracken. I had heard so many incredible reports on this restaurant - my sister often enjoys their wood fired pizza on a Saturday night and our experience did not disappoint!
The decor is stunning! Soft lighting (perfect for a date night) but also kid friendly with a fun atmosphere and colouring in activities ready at the table.
The cocktail menu was so tempting, it was almost impossible to choose one and because I had already had my monthly quota of sweets at high tea I decided to stick with my usual favourite, an aperol spritz! Brodie and I also had difficult choosing a dish from the menu as it all sounded sooo good so Brodie and I decided to order a few dishes to share.
We highly recommend the Forest Mushroom Risotto, Prawn and Clam Linguini and The Cabbage Slaw (to die for!). I absolutely loved this place and can not wait to eat here again. Contact Mr McCracken here.
Hyatt Place is the ultimate experience for a staycation but also perfect for anyone flying out on an early flight, only 10 minutes form the airport, it’s the ideal way to start your holiday! A delicious buffet breakfast is included in your stay and the coffee is top notch!
Our family had the most incredible time and highly recommend a staycation at Hyatt Place to anyone who needs a night off and loves being pampered in 5 Star luxury.
The kids didn’t want to leave!!
