We promised Oscar a special party for his 10th birthday and were throwing around some ideas. A footy party, a bowling party, in the end we decided to go with Sidetracked Entertainment.
When we arrived the kids took off enjoying the ‘funny mirrors’, and exploring all the fun arcade games. We were set up with a table in the party room to leave our things and then once everyone had arrived we headed straight to the Go Karts. The kids absolutely loved this, tearing around faster than we imagined (they are a competitive group) but still kept under control by the staff. Steve even joined in (yes, he fit!) , I’m not sure who had more fun! Dahlia was a little hesitant to have a go when she saw how fast the first group went, but Ryan (one of the owners) gently encouraged her to give it a go, offering to ride on the side until she was comfortable. She quickly gained confidence and loved it.
Next we headed to Laser Tag. After being briefed, the kids were divided into two groups and put the equipment on. I walked through and couldn’t believe how fun it was. It was dark with flashing lights, smoke, music, obstacles and even a Mighty Warbot! The suits all had real time scoring so the kids could check out how they went at the end.
By then the kids had worked up an appetite so we went back to the party room and they devoured a hot dog, chips and drinks. We then sang Happy Birthday, ate the cake and we were off again, this time to bowling. We had 4 groups of 3-4 and they all enjoyed competing against each other and as groups. The two girls ended up coming first and second, and the boys were pretty stunned to say the least as they were two years younger! But when Evey won, it was so sweet to see her group of boys jumping around her and celebrating.
I have to say, this party was not only so fun for the kids, but it was so easy for me. Dahlia and I made the cake and prepared the lolly bags but other that than, just turned up. The staff there were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We had a dedicated party host, who not only directed the kids and made sure they were safe but also had fun with the kids (even doing a couple of laps on the Go Karts with them!). We also had many other staff looking after us, it seems the goal at Sidetracked is to make sure you are looked after and having fun the whole time. I was able to relax and enjoy the party, knowing everyone was having a good time and not having to worry about anything.
They have a new Family Fun night on Friday nights were parents can go and enjoy a meal while the kids have two hours of unlimited laserforce, arcade, dodgems, bowling and mini golf. If you are looking for a fun night out together, or a special party for your child, make sure you check it out.
